// Blog » (Heads-up) AOKP is switching back to CM's CAF-based kernels

Posted by: on   Important

Note that in an effort to minimize the maintenance required by some of us Kanglings, we’re moving back to CM’s CAF-based kernel for the following devices:

  • flo (Nexus 7 2013 (WiFi))
  • deb (Nexus 7 2013 (LTE))

This will not only allow us to focus on other code changes/enhancements, but also provide a kernel which is focused more on performance updates from Qualcomm, rather than AOSP ‘features’ from Google.

If you’re looking for more information, entropy512 has a great post on Reddit describing the difference between CAF and deCAF kernels.

This change is set to happen within the next week, and you can keep an eye on our Gerrit, for the two following commits:

…when those two patches have been merged, the following nightlies will have the CAF kernels back in.

Cheers!
